I've got the can

Well a co-worker of mine loan me a can of spider spray. Well it didn't take long when I came home to spray the outside of the door, the inside, the windows. Now I'm terrified that they are going to crawl in to hide from the smell. I can't win.

I had a nice chat with Rachelle from work. It was just like I was in the next office. Good thing I have the telephone plan and can call. I wonder how my good friend Karen is doing. Send me a message sometime. Today was a good day at work. I enjoy it very much. It was a nice sunny day. A couple came to visit the site on Monday and they were from London. He was running from Rome to Home which is London and asked that I check out his blog. He had a aching knee but continued to run. He was running for Marie Currie Cure for Cancer. He was running 45 marathons in 50 days. He is a geography teacher and very nice guy. In 2009, he ran from Vancouver to Halifax. I thought only Forrest Gump did that. Anyway, it was nice meeting them.

I'm getting ready for the week-end. So many things going on that it's hard to get everything in. There are lots of hot air balloons here but I'm not brave enough to go up. It is absolutely not on my bucket list. I'm waiting for Mirjam to come visit and show her around. I was invited to a birthday supper in Paris in November but I have to work. This is not like going to Summerside or Montague for a birthday, it's Paris. I'm sorry, but you have to be jealous or envious, just this once. I may never want to leave. Ah La vie en rose... Talking about bucket list, the one thing that I would love to do is rope sliding. Well I don't know the term but it's where you are in a harness and you slide across over the trees. I think there is one in Moncton. Hey, if I was brave enough to get a tattoo at 50, I'm brave enough to do this.

Just finished talking to Rachelle on Skype and it was a treat. Thank you Rachelle for having shared your treasures with me. On that note, I will say goodnight. It's hot in the apartment but I am not opening one window. Things are waiting for me out there.

I'm moving...

Well this morning started like any other morning, got up, showered, breakfast and left. As I was going outside of my apartment door and locking it, a huge, bigger than the inside of my hand, spider in position of attack came towards me. I am convince that it's one from the movie arachaphobia (don't know how to spell it). It was there waiting with the beaty little eyes just eyeballing me. My first instinct was to have a heart attack, but I knew I didn't have time. I had to get to work. I yelled, but nobody came to my rescue (note to self: neighbors will not be invited to my parties), then I jumped on it, took off my shoe, threw it down the stairs and then, I was stuck upstairs. Came back into my apartment and got up on the couch with one shoe. I finally got brave and very slowly went out and down the stairs. It was dead, like more than dead. It was here and there and everywhere. When I got to work, I told them about it and they told me, ya, they are looking for a warm place because it's getting cold out. They didn't seem to concern about it. Buy spray and put it around your door they said. NO. I'm moving to Alaska or in an igloo. Went to the store after work and wouldn't you know it, all the spider sprays were gone. Nobody told me about this. I'm in my apartment now but I have a towel at the base of my door. I can't live like this.

I bought myself the best broom ever. It's made of rubber and it's fabulous. I saw it when I was at the hairdresser. The dust bunnies don't fly all over the place and it even does my area rub. Best invention ever. I am bringing one home when I go back.

I met a lot of Newfoundlanders today at work. Very friendly. To tell you what a small world it is, one guy and his mother now live in Stratford PEI, she is a nurse and he works in furnaces in Stratford and he came to MY PLACE and cleaned my furnace. How small of a world is that. When he came into the Centre, I knew I had seen him before and we started to talk and there you have it. You can run but you can't hide.

This coming Sunday there are fireworks at the Beffroy. There are so many festivals that I can't keep track of them all, so I just go and enjoy. Well this is my news for the day. I will make a few phone calls and call it a night. I wish you could see me because as I am writing this, I'm looking around me for anything that moves. It's not a life. Maybe I should get a cat.

So goodnight and sleep well. I'll blog again soon.

you're going to love this one...

Today I was at work, enjoying it as I always do and helping out. So I'm standing at the Entry of the site and people come in, so I greet them. A visitor starts talking to me and says, oh are you a mature student. I thought they were all young students. OK you can stop laughing now...I had to laugh myself. So I thought I would share that with you because I found it so funny.

I'm living over the edge a bit. Last week we had a meshoui and I ate lamb for the first time. I will never look at another sheep the same way. Good thing it wasn't a sheep that I had named. Yesterday I went to the Andouillette Festival at La Place des Heros with Christi. Well those sausages are the ugliest looking thing I ever saw in my life. I had a hard time walking by people that were eating them. UGLY. We had an oversize sandwich and fries instead. You can never go wrong with fries. Arras has the best fries ever. It was quite cold so we went to get a hot chocolate and it was the best ever. There's a lot of best ever here in France.

Saturday I got my hair cut. Before I had a chance to tell the hairdresser what I wanted, chop there goes the hair. It was too late. Christi came to my place and the first thing I said was, don't laugh at my hair. She is too sweet to say anything bad or laugh. She would be the version of Becky at work. No not you Becky my sister-in-law, although you are nice too.

Reboot Bill fixed my laptop. I am hoping to get it when Berthe and her sister come in October. Then I will be able to add pictures. I'm getting quite a collection. Allen is NOT ALLOWED (I hope you're reading this) to touch my computer again....ever..

I'm hoping to cat sit again. I bought a nice basket for Miss Zina for her next sleep-over. I'm hoping that her mother (that is so nice, beautiful, friendly etc..etc. will let me.) I talked to Minime on Skype last week. She didn't have much to say, just that I looked good. Talked to Philippe and Becky (yes you Becky) yesterday. Retirement seem to agree with them. I'm not ready yet. Time is going fast here and I don't like it. I'm enjoying the life and work a lot. Tonight I didn't want to over do it, so I just did half the dishes. I'll do the other half tomorrow. As you know, doing dishes relaxes me so I don't want to do it all at once. I got a wooden dish whatever thingy yesterday. Where you put your dishes to dry. Compliment of Andre and Christi. Thank you, you're great friends. They always walk me home at night if we go out. I think it's because they like being with me so much that it's hard to let me go. Well that's what I'm believing it is.

Marla is cool, it's always nice hearing from you and Gladys, I enjoyed our conversation on the phone. You're sweet too. Well it's 9:50 and I am determine to get to bed early tonight. My last visitor left this morning. Those young people, they know how to win my heart. It's, be nice to Louise and she'll let you leave your suitcases at her place while you travel and if you're extra nice to her, she will let you stay overnight in her guest room. Ya, 4 of them but I enjoyed the company. Good thing it wasn't all at the same time. So Loulou's Bed and Breakfast is closed for the season.

On that note, miss you all. Hi Corinne, Rachelle, Helene my cousin, Bonnie, Joanne my cousin and the other Johanne, Binky, Therese, Alanna. You told me you like seeing your names on my blog. Thanks for your love and support. Wish you could all see and feel what I feel.

Oh blog, I have missed you

Back by popular demand, I'm back. I would like to thank everyone that emailed me wondering where my blog was. It warms my heart to know that so many of you read it, followed it and enjoyed it. I was having problems with my IPAD and my blog disappeared, so this is a new blog, so sit down, relax and enjoy. Bird is back in town.

Well where do I start. I'm having a great time, still not driving standard but I'm driving. I am registered for driving lessons on my next days off that falls on Tuesday or Wednesday. The woman said, Madame, nobody is too old to learn how to drive standard. Obviously, she hasn't gotten into the car yet. However, I will do it and I will be proud. I thought I had lots of friends here because when driving, lots of people honk the horns, so I wave but they don't wave back. Actually, their hands are in the air doing all sorts of gestures but I really don't think it's a good sign. I must say that I enjoy driving here. The roundabouts, I mean the hundreds of them, I do them quite well. When I go back to Charlottetown, I'll show them what a real roundabout is.

I'm getting mail, cards and even a care package from Lise. Can't wait. I'm sure it's going to be something good. Lise took pity on Kevin and made him shepherd pie and curried chicken. The poor boy has to eat.

Last week there was an huge flea market and I went with Christi and we had to make 2 trips. However, I do have connections, it's a gift I have. The owner of the hotel I stayed at when I arrived is also the owner of a pub in La Place des Heros and he let us leave things in his pub while we continued shopping. And you think I have no friends. I know people in the right places. I don't think it's a good idea for us to be left alone shopping. We encourage one another in buying stuff but we had fun. We were there from 11:00 to 6:00, now that's shopping

Now for the piece de resistance, 2 weeks ago I babysat Zina the cat for 4 days. She is a siberian pure. We got along great. She loved my pillars and my stairs and best of all she slept with me, at my head or beside me. Lets just say that it's a good thing cats don't talk but she looked pretty cute with the little sailor hat I made her. No animal or human were hurt during this process. Zina's mother, who is just waiting for me to say that she is pretty was kind enough to let me babysit her. Hopefully I will again. I am planning on more outfits.

Tomorrow is the Festival de l'andouillette. I believe the festival is for me because you all know that before I became a Webster, I was a Douillette, so I figure that's close enough so it must be for me. I guess it's like an ugly sausage which I certainly won't even look at or let alone taste it. I'll stick to bread and wine. In 2 weeks, Mirjam from Germany is coming for a week before she starts university. I'm going to Paris to get her (by train). Like who does that, going to Paris. Ha, the joy of living in France. Then in October, Berthe and her sister are coming, then November Allen and Natasha are coming. No Allen I will not make you work this time. My time here is going by too fast. In the 2 1/2 months I've been here, I just had one melt down. I think that's pretty darn good. Thank you to the people that helped me through it, you all know who you are.

Here in France, people put out their sheets or duvets outside their windows so after I came back from shopping, I figured well when in France, do like the Frenchman, so out goes the sheets for a nice fresh smell.....nobody told me to watch for the birds. Not impressed. I think I'll stick to the Canadian way, the dryer.

I could go on and on but I will finish for tonight. So thank you all for reading me and believing in me. Wish you could all experience what I'm experiencing (is that a word) here. I miss you Diane and the dust bunnies miss you too.
